Happy 40th Anniversary Mom and Dad!
Starting Wednesday, Audrey started asking to go camping with the tent. Who can really say as to whether it was mainly to make sure that marshmallows made an appearance or whether one of the favorite TV characters (Daniel the Tiger or Dinosaur Train dinos) inspired the thought. Regardless, the enthusiasm Saturday night was beyond cute. No need for prompting her to get the PJs on, teeth brushed or potty done- she eagerly volunteered to do all those things. The best part of the evening was probably the eagerly created pile of lantern, flashlight, books, pillows, sleeping bags in the family room. Then finally books in the tent, multiple re-adjustments with Nama's sleeping bag and pillow, an extra potty break and snack and finally off to dreamland. Unfortunately, we had an impromptu interruption at 12:30 AM; unclear to a bleary eyed mom and dad as to whether it was a bad dream or just sleeping on a lumpy surface, but Auds was uttering words like "The sleeping bag is 'too wiggly'" and "I need mommy!" A good first attempt and well worth the effort, but everyone ended up in the their own beds by 1AM. It's been a pretty full weekend for the audramatic, she was at a late evening play the previous night with Nama n' Bumpa watching the "Annie" play featuring 2nd cousin Alana!
The more fantastic news is that our little Everation is now turning the big numero UNO on Tuesday! Quite the mover and shaker, he has been featuring his new abilities at walking all week long. (I might add that he helped me win a little bet with my wife that he would be walking before his first birthday.) This Sunday AM was getting himself up in the middle of the room and taking up to 8 steps in any one direction. He seems to like doing it independently when walking with things in his hands. He will walk towards his Mom from time to time, but he seems to be at his best when he isn't all that focused on what he's doing. Often times standing up at random and nonchalantly wandering around without even realizing what the big deal is.
