Ay yai yai! Viva Mexico!

Hey All, another blog update from the Audrey Fan Club! Little Miss Chunkaroo had alot of firsts on this trip! First passport, first flight, and first sunburn (just a small one). There were plenty of photo-opportunities of course...can you believe that Audramatic didn't have a single bad one??

The flight was actually pretty easy to Mazatlan; although you might be amazed at what a baby requires for packing. Audrey slept most of the flight into Mexico and we made it through customs without a problem. That's when things got a little rocky. Dad and I grabbed the rental car to go grocery shopping while the rest of the crew headed to the hotel... Ends up that the hotel was full and they sent us to the presidential suite of a hotel nearby! Hot tub, sauna, three bedrooms, enormous kitchen- I actually got lost wandering through it! We did have to go to a normal room the following day, but the first evening was fabulous.

Most days were spent on the beach... the first day or two a bit cloudy- but quite deceiving since most acquired sunburns even on the first day. Believe it or not, Jen managed to get up on a surfboard once or twice over the week. She got her butt kicked a few times being dragged under the big waves (see the move "Big Blue" for a frame of reference), but after a short break was back in the ocean! I tried to strike it rich with my metal detector but only found a few rusty pesos. Audrey was the superstar of the trip- quite popular with all the travelers nearby, especially with her flashy pink shades.

We did take a day trip to Deer Island which was nice- we snorkled and kayaked a bit before the lunch they provided. We spent a lot of time at the pool, where Audrey learned to start kicking in the water. We also learned that Audrey doesn't automatically close her mouth when the water comes up to her face... her father won't make that mistake again. Jen and I went out with Stephen and Alissa towards the end of the week. Stephen was in true form... he is an excellent dancer (especially when intoxicated) :-)
